Hello and welcome to our wonderful new website! We’d like to thank you for stopping by. Whether you’re from Essex or Suffolk and have heard of us before, or you’re from somewhere a little more exotic and are just passing through, we hope that you will find some useful and entertaining information within these pages. Over the forthcoming months we will be sharing our insights into the removals and storage business, as well as all kinds of hints and tips designed to make your life easier. Keep an eye out for advice on how best to pack up your house ready for your move, or on what the best practice is for dealing with pets on move day. Every few weeks we will be sharing a new blog post and the information and images on the site will be constantly updated – so make sure you keep checking back for all the latest news and tips.

But first, let’s introduce ourselves properly. We are R&D Schofield LTD, a removals and storage business which has been operating in Colchester for nearly 100 years. Starting out with nothing more than a horse, a cart and a whole load of eggs to deliver we have grown to a fleet of more than 10 vehicles and have safely moved people all around the world. We pride ourselves on being a small family firm but that does not mean that we’re afraid of big challenges! Over the years we have moved art galleries, stately homes, museums, libraries and even Colchester Castle.

The past few years have been a time of big and exciting change at Schofields. We moved to our current premises at Foxash Estate in Lawford in 2011 and from here we opened up our first self-storage facility. Two years later we added 40 more secure units so now we have over 80 rooms. We have rapidly increased the size of our fleet over the past few years and have expanded our containerised storage facility. The latest part of our exciting new developments is what you are looking at right now. Over the last few months we have been working on rebranding ourselves and developing a website which is as vibrant and modern as we are. We love it and hope that you do too!
